Samuel Contesti nasce a Le Havre il 4 marzo 1983. Suo padre Yves é un giocatore di calcio (Le havre, Nimes, Tolosa) e sua madre Sylvie ostetrica. Samuel comincia a pattinare all’eta’ di 4 anni sulla pista di ghiaccio di Gap, partecipa alla sua prima competizione all’eta’di 6 anni e porta gia’a casa la sua prima vittoria. Si unisce al club di Annecy nel 2001. Proprio ad Annecy ,nel febbraio 2007, Samuel sposa l’ Italo-francese Geraldine Zulinì che presto diventera’ la sua allenatrice esclusiva. Nel 2007 Samuel decide di trasferirsi definitivamente in Italia con sua moglie Geraldine e di cominciare una nuova vita sportiva supportato ed aiutato dalla societa’ di Courmayeur che vanta una tra le piste piu’ belle ed attrezzate d’Italia. Appena arrivato, Samuel si guadagna la prima vittoria Italiana, proprio ai campionati Italiani Assoluti del 2008. Nell ‘agosto del 2008Peter Gruetter decidedi entrare a far parte dello staff tecnico di Samuel, gia’ composto da Geradine Zulinì -allenatrice e coreografa-, Patrick Beourguignan -preparatore mentale-e Mathilde Contesti – balletto-. Nel Settembre del 2008 arriva finalmente la stagione del riscatto (dopo anni di allenamento e di attese ) con la possibilita’ di poter finalmente gareggiare sotto i colori Azzurri. Ed e’ proprio in quel momento che Samuel non si lascia intimidire e coglie l’occasione proponendo un programma di altissimo livello tecnico ed artistico con il quale vince il suo secondo titolo di Campione Italiano battendo Paolo Bacchini e Ruben Errampalli. Nel gennaio 2009, ai Campionati Europei di Helsinki, finalmete Samuel corona il suo sogno …. una medaglia d’argento tanto sudata quanto inattesa, dietro al francese Brian Jouber e davanti al Belga Kevin Van der Perren…..davvero un bell’inizio sotto la bandiera tricolore.
54 anni dopo Carlo Fassi, un italiano sale sul podio ad un Campionato Europeo.

Biography
Samuel was born on March 4th, 1983 in Le Havre to Sylvie who is a nurse and Yves, a soccer player who played in French 1st division for Le Havre, Nimes and; Toulouse.
At the age of four he took his first steps on the ice in Gap and 2 years later he won his first competition, eventually joining the Figure Skating Club of Annecy in 2001.
In February 2007 he marries Geraldine Zulini in the city of Annecy and later that year he becomes the new Italian Champion, dethroning the former Italian Champion Karel Zelenka in Milan.
In January 2008, Geraldine becomes his main coach and he moves to Courmayeur in the region of Val d’Aosta.
In August 2008 his coaching team is expanded by Peter Grutter under whose guidance would Stephane Lambiel become a 2 times World Champion.
In September 2008, after three years of practice without being able to compete, Samuel is finally able to represent the Italian Team. Throughout the year he places second in several International events, competing against established skaters, such as Kevin van der Perren (2007 and 2009 European Bronze Medalist), Nobunari Oda (2009 Japanese National Champion) and; Tomas Verner (2008 European Champion).
In December 2008 he defends his Italian National Championship title at the Olympic Ice Rink in Pinerolo, edging out Paolo Bacchini and Rubben Errampali.
In January 2009 he represents Italy for the first time at the European Championships, delivering amazing performances in short and free program, earning not only his personal best score of 220.92 points, but also the silver medal.
Fifty five years after Carlo Fassi, Italy finally has another medal at the European Championships.
